Review: I have read many NLP books, in comparison this book have very little theory. What it does have is specific practical advice; ideas and tips that you can put into practice immediately.

Rintu Basu states in his book that this is not a complete guide to using NLP Language Patterns for persuasion but rather a book of instantly usable patterns and techniques and in this regards I have to agree. What I found was that within a few pages into the book you are encouraged to go out and try a few patterns out. You are even given ideas on how to get ready for that first time. One of the best things about the book is how much support and encouragement you are given to go out and use the material.

Another thing I really liked about the book is the humour. A lot of NLP books are very dry and dusty. The style is so conversational and easy to read that I often felt reading the book that Rintu was reading it directly to me. There are some real tongue in cheek moments as Rintu uses each of the patterns several times before giving it to you in exact detail.

The think that makes the book really effective is the amount of examples and applications that are given for each pattern. And this is where I think the book could have been even better. I felt that the range of contexts used could have been wider. There are numerous examples from sales and training, obviously these are areas Rintu knows all about, but more about seduction, parenting and negotiation would have widened the scope of the book for me. Still it may lead to an interesting companion volume.
